Requirements to Become a Certified TUR Planner

Eligibility requirements for anyone applying to become a certified TUR planner
310 CMR 50.52 (1) Employment Experience

7 years full time employment in specified fields:

  • Engineering or Process Control
  • Manufacturing, Production, or Quality Control
  • Environmental Compliance or Worker Health and Safety
  • Planning, Industrial Design, or Research and Development
  • Accounting, Business Administration, or Product Marketing
  • Managerial or Legal
310 CMR 50.52 (3) Educational Substitution for Employment Experience
  • Vocational/Technical Certificate: 1 year substitution for employment experience
  • Relevant Associate's Degree: 2 year substitution
  • Bachelor's Degree, concentration directly related to TUR: 4 year substitution
  • Bachelor's Degree, concentration indirectly related to TUR: 3 year substitution
  • Master's Degree or Doctorate, concentration directly related to TUR: 5 year substitution
  • Master's Degree or Doctorate, concentration indirectly related to TUR: 4 year substitution

Requirements to become a Certified General Practice TUR Planner
310 CMR 50.54 Exam Track for Certification $2,000 to attend Successful completion of the TUR Planner certification course and passing the examination.  
310 CMR 50.53 (3) Certification/Recertification Fee $500  
310 CMR 50.58 Continuing Education Requirements for Recertification   First recertification (2 years after initial certification): 30 continuing education credits required.  Subsequent recertifications (every 2 years thereafter): 24 continuing education credits required

Requirements to become a Certified Limited Practice TUR Planner
310 CMR 50.54 Exam Track for Certification $630 to attend Successful completion of the TUR Planner certification course and passing the examination. 
310 CMR 50.55 Experience in TUR Activities   2 full years of experience in TUR activities or 1 1/2 years of experience in TUR activities and successful completion of the TUR Planner certification course
310 CMR 50.53 (3) Certification/Recertification Fee $100  
310 CMR 50.58 Continuing Education Requirements for Recertification   First recertification (2 years after initial certification): 24 continuing education credits required. Subsequent recertifications (every 2 years thereafter): 20 continuing education credits required
