The largest markets for surfactants are primarily, household detergents, industrial cleaners and personal care products (as shown in Figure 1). With the remarkable ability to influence the properties of surfaces and interfaces, surfactants are essential ingredients in thousands of products.
Continuing Education
TURI presents continuing education opportunities year-round. Our conferences are typically in-person in the spring and virtually in the fall of each year, providing ample opportunity for TUR Planners to obtain appropriate credits if needed.
The content of our conferences varies from event to event and typically focuses on topics related to safer alternatives to toxic substances, relevant chemicals policies, chemical hazards, pollution prevention, resource conservation and drivers for change. Go here to view presentations and topics from past conferences.

Our TUR Planner Certification Course Kicks Off August 14th
Registration For The 2024 TUR Planner Certification Course Is Now Open!
The course begins with an August 14 kick-off meeting. Participants then take the 6-week self-paced, interactive online portion of the course, which thoroughly covers the theory and regulations associated with TUR planning. After successful completion of the online portion, participants gather in person for four day-long classes to put the theory to practice. Participants learn directly from veteran TUR planners about best practices, and work together on a practicum based on a real manufacturing operation. Please note the full course requires between 40 – 55 hours of work overall.
At the end of the course, eligible participants are ready to take the MassDEP exam to become TUR planners.
